Sail Out the Golden Gate in Search of Orcas

You’re invited to join us on Saturday, February 12, when Sealife Conservation is proud to host renowned Orca researcher Ken Balcomb for a special sail near the Farallon Islands, in search of Orcas. Ken is a fascinating lecturer, with a wealth of experience to share.

Ken founded the Center for Whale Research in Friday Harbor, Washington in 1985, and is in the area for a brief time. Ken has authored or co-authored more than 30 published research papers and five books based upon his experience in whale research. He is one of the pioneers of the photo-identification method and other non-invasive studies of cetaceans, and one of a very few marine mammal scientists with military experience and background in anatomy, acoustics, ecology and long-term studies of free-ranging cetaceans.

The Derek M Baylis will be leaving the dock at Berkeley Marine Center in Berkeley, CA at 9 a.m. (Please arrive by 8:45) on Saturday, February 12, and return by 5 p.m. Sealife Conservation will be providing a light lunch and snacks. We recommend that you bring the beverage of your choice. We are limiting our passenger load to ensure the best possible experience. Book now to guarantee your spot!

For $149.00, you will have an incredible day, sailing on the SF Bay, passing the San Francisco skyline, sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge, out on the Pacific Ocean to search for Orcas and other migrating whales, then back again to Berkeley Marine.
